FarmLink is supporting the Society of Precision Agriculture Australia (SPAA) in the GRDC funded project Fostering the adoption of VRT fertiliser application for improved nutrient use efficiency, to be delivered across 2026-27.

The project is designed to support per-to-peer learning and real-world application of variable rate technologies (VRT), grounded in local farming systems and grower decision-making. Through our established networks and trusted presence, FarmLink is playing a critical role in ensuring that the project delivers practical, regionally relevant outcomes.

Under this project, agronomists from across Australia are working to support small groups of growers to adopt VRT on farm. In the FarmLink region,  Angus Malmo from RMS Agricultural Consultants (Rural Management Strategies) in regional delivery activities, with FarmLink supporting the project by:

  • Acting as the local point of contact for participating growers;

  • Promoting and coordinating learning activities, including field walks and digital extension;

  • Supporting peer-to-peer knowledge exchange within and across regions;

  • Contributing to extension communities and case studies; and

  • Assisting with evaluation, reporting and local delivery logistics.

As the project progresses field days and other extension opportunities will be advertised through FarmLink’s social media and communications channels. Case studies and other extension materials will be developed and hosted here on FarmLink’s website.
