Dr Sue Hatcher to lead FarmLink’s research team

FarmLink Research is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Sue Hatcher as our Principal Research and Extension Manager. Sue is a highly skilled and experienced researcher who is well positioned to lead our research team.

Sue holds a BSc (Agric Sci) [Hons] and a PhD from the University of Western Australia. She worked as a research scientist with the NSW Department of Primary Industries for 21 years before moving into her own consultancy.

For more than 30 years, Sue has conducted applied research into a broad range of sheep production projects across a range of disciplines including Merino breeding, animal health and welfare, reproduction, physiology, wool production and quality, and fibre metrology. She believes that sound research, development and extension programs targeted at the key drivers of farm productivity are essential for sustainable agricultural industries.

FarmLink CEO Shaughn Morgan said, “Sue brings a wealth of experience, not only as a leading agricultural researcher, but also as a very accomplished manager. Her extensive history of collaboration with farmers, researchers, government and industry will prove to be a great asset to FarmLink.”

Sue will commence with FarmLink on Monday 25th November, and will oversee a broad portfolio of research projects.

Sue said, “I enjoy working with producers to deliver research to them on-farm. My work has always had an applied focus, based on how we best link science and the outcomes of research and target it to specific industry needs. The importance of a farming systems group like FarmLink, is that it brings us front and centre into the key issues that local farmers are facing.”

FarmLink is thrilled to have secured the services of a Principal Research and Extension Manager of Sue’s calibre. Her extensive experience will reinforce FarmLink’s reputation as an agricultural research leader.
