Supporting farmers and land managers
The Carbon Farming Outreach Program will provide training and advice about carbon farming. This support will help farmers and land managers, including First Nations people, to make decisions to reduce emissions.
The program includes the development of a training package, and tools and grants for independent and trusted advisers to provide advice and support to farmers and land managers across Australia.
Program Overview
The Carbon Farming Outreach Program will support Australian farmers and land managers to reduce emissions and store carbon. This will help the agriculture and land sector play its part in Australia’s transition to net zero emissions.
The program will:
support farmers and land managers to make decisions to reduce emissions and store carbon
build capacity of trusted and independent advisers to deliver advice to farmers and land managers
provide access to clear and culturally appropriate information on carbon farming.
This will help:
farmers and land managers to make informed decisions to lower their emissions
farmers and land managers increase their knowledge of greenhouse gas emission management
trusted advisers to provide advice to farmers and land managers beyond the life of the program.
An additional $30.8 million has been allocated to expand the existing Carbon Farming Outreach Program. The funds will be used to:
provide additional training sessions to trusted advisers
establish a ‘knowledge bank’ to integrate existing training with new tailored resources
support rural Research and Development Corporations to develop commodity-specific information for the knowledge bank.
Delivered with funding support from the Commonwealth of Australia through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, under the Carbon Farming Outreach Program in collaboration with Grower Group Alliance
